~ It's Reel Love: Edward Scissorhands ~
Peg Boggs: The light concealing cream goes on first. Then you blend, and blend, and blend. Blending is the secret.

~ It's Reel Love: Pushing Daisies ~
Who was it that said that a warm piece of pie can fix anything?
Well, they were right. At the very least, a generous slice of Pushing Daisies is enough to turn any day right-side up, and that's how I plan to spend my sick home-time today, cross-stitching in hand.
If you've already seen this marvelous series, you'll probably still be mourning it's unseasonably early demise, and if you haven't seen it... you're in for quite the adventure. I tell people it's Amelie meets Six Feet Under with a old-timey baker's twist. It's off-beat and it's sweet. The sets, names, costumes and mysteries are out of this world. It cameos just about every un-famous-but-beloved character actor out there...
Oh, and it will it give you a craving for pie that you never even knew you had.
What's your favorite episode? Favorite flavor of pie? Go-to recipe? I'm partial to the finale, and am an apple-rhubarb fan, myself, and would love to make a pie this summer. Catch both seasons of Pushing Daisies on Netflix...

~ It's Reel Love: Splash ~
Not only do I have this movie to thank for encouraging my childhood dream of one day becoming a mermaid, but it also endowed me with a love of kinky hair, loose pastels, boyfriend clothes, stretch-knits... and most importantly, underwater kisses.

~ It's Reel Love: All About Eve ~
60 years ago tomorrow, the 22nd Academy Awards took place at the RKO Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. Honoring movies released in 1950, All About Eve stole the show, nominated for 14 Oscars.
It took home six: Best Picture, Best Director {Joseph Mankiewicz}, Best Screenplay {Mankiewicz}, Best Sound Recording {20th Century}, Best Supporting Actor {the marvelous George Sanders} and Best Costume Design {the legendary Edith Head}.

While watching it again at my sewing machine last night, I realized there's something new to be noticed and enjoyed every time... be it a subtle dig, a gorgeous piece of clothing, a bat of an eyelash or an underlying sentiment. If you haven't yet seen this thoroughly delicious movie starring Bette Davis, "hold onto your seats: it's gonna be a bumpy night..."
Sound Recorder Man & Marilyn Monroe {who had a bit part!}
George Sanders {giddy as a schoolboy}
Edith Head {one oscar for each fabulous dress she designed?}
For those of you who have seen All About Eve, what do you love most about it? Favorite quote?

~ It's Reel Love: A Room With A View ~
A Room With A View has to be one of Kelty and my favorite movies. For one, it takes place in Florence at the turn of the century... a setting ripe with possibility, adventure and romance. The larger-than-life hair and unruly eyebrows are another draw; Helena Bonham Carter's braid is thicker than a loaf of french bread and her eyebrows are sublime! The Ms. Alans, a sweet pair of elderly sisters who travel together, are equally noteworthy, as are other quirky characters who meander in and out of the film. We've never been able to resist the delicate lace, foofy hats and high-waisted long skirts, blending conservative Edwardian sensibilities with the impending, corset-less women's suffrage movement... and what about GEORGE?! Enough said.
Considering today's date, this movie couldn't be a better suited valentine. But not for
